Who We Are

Petacure was started by animal lovers and dog owners who spent over 30 years collectively working in the dog and cat rescue world. Our love for all animals inspired us to start Petacure because we saw a gap in the industry for premium high quality Cannabidiol (CBD) products sourced and made in the US.  We truly believe in our products and we are excited to share them with you.

The formulations were created with our own pet’s ailments in mind: Kayla, Koko, and Clyde...

KaylaKayla KAYLA’s story

Kayla, a rescue from Korea’s dog meat trade, was diagnosed with a deadly disease called IMHA* early 2017. She was not eating and lethargic with extremely pale gums.  I rushed her to the hospital where they proceeded to give her a blood transfusion because her red blood cells count had dropped drastically. I was devastated when researching this disease because the survival rate was not high.

Kayla had been through so much surviving the dog meat trade, that she couldn’t possibly die so soon.  She had only been with me a year and that wasn’t enough time. In a span of two weeks in the hospital, she underwent 5 blood transfusions and an Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment. I visited her everyday bringing her special homemade food because I wanted her to know I didn’t abandon her and in case she didn’t survive.

After one year of medications and special homemade food with alternate natural remedies including CBD and hemp oil, Kayla is in remission. She is one of the lucky ones and so am I. I am currently on IMHA groups sharing Kayla’s story to other owners to give hope.

One of the important vitamins that Kayla needed in her diet was B-12.  The body needs B-12 to make red blood cells.  Kayla was the inspiration for Petacure to create our Fur Wellness with B-12 -- Kiana Kang

KokoKoko

KOKO’s story

Koko, a rescued stray from China, suffers from severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA)** A rescuer found her lying on the side of the street unable to walk or stand up. She was brought to the place where I was volunteering in China. I fell in love with her the moment she scooted her little fragile body towards me.

After I brought her back with me to the States, I took her to see an orthopedic specialist.  She was prescribed medications with the hope that she would not deteriorate too fast.  Her bones would crack whenever I would pick her up.  I basically had an immobile dog that was still determined to scoot slowly but surely.  She had that fighting spirit and I wasn’t going to give up on her.

Upon recommendations, I decided to try CBD.  Adding CBD oil to Koko’s regimen has given her the ability to stand and even take a few steps. I caught her trying to jump onto the couch. I have seen Koko go from being in pain and not moving to being more energetic and smiling all the time. Her quality of life has drastically improved.

We want to see dogs who are suffering from inflammation and joint pain live better lives like Koko so we formulated Fur Comfort with Turmeric. -- Iris Almario

ClydeClyde

Clyde’s story

My rescue boy Clyde had a rough start in life, abandoned in a yard of a foreclosed home along with his twin sister at just 9 months old. After I adopted him I noticed that he was having back trouble. The vet diagnosed him with having disk disease.

Years before CBD was an option, I was spending thousands on acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, massages and herbal supplements. But Clyde still suffered and ended up rupturing a disk. He had emergency surgery, then 6 weeks of water therapy, heat lasers, etc… It was an endless drain on my bank account and not realistic for most people.

Once I was made aware of CBD products for dogs I decided to try them, but the results “they” promised didn’t happen. I decided to do my own research and later partnered with a Santa Barbara Cannabis farm to create a line of  CBD products that would actually work.

Fur Relief is one of my favorites, not only does it soothe the inflammation in Clyde’s back but it helps with fleas, hotspots and has even alleviated my own joint pain. -- Valarie Ianniello

* Kayla's disease was Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA), often called Autoimmune mediated hemolytic anemia (AIHA).  This is a deadly disease where the body’s immune system attacks its own red blood cells resulting in severe anemia and lack of oxygen delivery to the cells of the body.

** Similar to humans, rheumatoid arthritis is a crippling progressive degenerative disease that affects causing inflammation in the joints and resulting in painful deformity and immobility.
